Our program is designed for all students, regardless of outdoor experience or background. Whether you're a seasoned camper or exploring nature for the first time, we provide a welcoming space to learn and grow. Our educators are trained to support diverse needs, including accommodations for physical accessibility and social-emotional learning
Students will delve into the science behind climate change, exploring its causes, effects, and solutions. This includes understanding the impact of greenhouse gases on ecosystems, how climate change disproportionately affects vulnerable communities, and the role of biodiversity in resilience. Through hands-on activities like field observations and data collection, students will connect these global challenges to their local environments, empowering them to see the tangible effects and opportunities for change within their communities.
This objective emphasizes the intersection of personal and cultural identity with environmental stewardship. Students will reflect on how their unique backgrounds, traditions, and histories shape their understanding of nature. By exploring indigenous practices and other culturally rooted approaches to sustainability, they will gain a broader perspective on how identity influences our relationship with the land. Activities like storytelling, journaling, and collaborative discussions encourage students to celebrate diversity and foster a deeper connection to both their heritage and the natural world.
Students will engage in meaningful advocacy projects designed to empower them with tools for creating positive change. Throughout the week, they will work on hands-on projects that combine creativity and practical communication skills, such as podcasting, videography, and designing impactful fliers or delivering spoken presentations. These projects allow students to express their ideas on environmental justice and community engagement while building confidence in public speaking, storytelling, and media production. By the end of the program, students will have tangible advocacy tools they can use to inspire change within their schools and communities
